The ion thrusters research group is concerned with the development of electric space propulsion systems for use in the propulsion of satellites and spacecraft. In close collaboration with industrial partners and the space agencies DLR and ESA, the thrusters are undergoing testing at our facilities under conditions analogous to those in space. Some of these thrusters are already in use on satellites.
