The Institute of Environmental Physics (IUP) has set itself the goal of researching the Earth system using physical methods. The focus is on atmospheric research (greenhouse gases, air pollutants, ozone, aerosols), marine and cryospheric research and satellite remote sensing. The institute employs over 100 scientists. The various working groups have excellent equipment at their disposal.
